Daily Deviation

The suggester says, "A great feeling emanates from this simple, yet profound photograph. It's so dreamlike and so real at the same time. The colours are very well balanced together, like pastel tones, and the 'magical cord' intensifies the excellence of this photograph."

When I look at this picture, and read your first sentence in the description, it brings up some feelings for me. Before I get to those though, let me actually talk about this piece first.

I feel that your vision in this photograph is strong enough for people to understand what you are talking about. A person with a mediocre background in Asian myths, or in fact has any kind of knowledge of myths, understands what this picture represents. which is fate. From the quote you say "The cord may stretch or tangle, but never breaks." I instantly know what your are talking about. I feel that the wiki link is good for people that don't know anything about this myth, but I don't feel that its necessary, because I feel that your vision is clearly shown in the picture; however that is just something I'm nitpicking at and it doesn't effect this piece, or my review at all.

Your originality is clearly original. You may have got this from a myth, but the picture, and the way you executed it are original to me. I have not seen someone sit there with a string in there hand, and then take a picture of it; yes it very simple, however no one else has done it, in this fashion.

The technique, is pretty average nothing special but nothing bad about it. Your execution is fine, so don't view this negatively.

The impact of this piece, for me at least, strikes a chord. I've always puzzled about what fate or destiny is, and when you say your quote in the beginning, it really connected to me. Others might see this picture not as impactful, but for me it is.

Overall a great picture, with a strong vision, originality, and impact. Though technique is simple, the picture as a whole, is strong and delivers a clear message of what the artist is trying to say.

"The cord may stretch or tangle, but never break."

Before I begin, I really do want to say how much I really love this picture. I stumbled upon this from someone I watch's favorites, and instantly felt the need to click on it. That being said, I'm going to continue to the helpful part now~

First of all, I have to say as a fan of lighting, I am in love with the delicate shading that goes across this woman's curves and outline. The way the shadows work across her skin is absolutely gorgeous, and even though I know the technique isn't anything complicated or intricate, I can't get over how well you've pulled this off. Also, the shadows against the bed are intriguing enough to catch my eye, but not get overwhelmed with it, which is a good thing.

Speaking of the bed, how amazing is that color contrast? Pretty amazing if you ask me. The dark cool colors that compose the bed mixed with the warm colors of the lighting and tone of her skin is gorgeous, and I can't help but fall in love with the imagery.

The pose that you had this model do is very deep, in my opinion. I get the feeling she is nervous, and very guarded, if not vulnerable. I feel like I get this feeling due to the hair covering her face along with the position of her legs. If this is NOT an intentional feeling you want from the picture, then you can count it against you- but if it IS, phenomenal. The Detail in her hand that has the red string wrapped and tangled around it is gorgeous- though I DO wish that that detail was shown in much more of the image, though that's just because I'm not too much of a fan of soft focus.

I do love the concept behind this piece, and the red string that emerges from her hand, though I do kind of wish it led... somewhere else. This isn't a major problem, I just can't help but feel like somethings off about its positioning, though to be honest, I can't even really tell what that is- it's just a gut feeling I have, so feel free to ignore it.

Overall I love this piece, and the concept moved me greatly. You did a fantastic job. I can't wait to see more of your work.

Love this image. The mixed focus and colours are great. It's suggestive, but not explicit. (not that there is anything wrong with explicit :P ) The pose is also nice. All in all a really nice photo.

The hair colour suits you too btw.

Thank you! [Also thank you for acknowledging that there's nothing wrong with explicit. :) Not many people on here do that.]
